The fund received negative press coverage in the summer for soliciting funds to bail out individuals accused of crimes ranging from sexual assault to murder. The bail-out fund also received scrutiny when its president, Greg Lewin, said that he did not consider the criminal charges against the person when choosing whether to post their bail as long as it hurt the justice system. Another tweet from Lake that signals her support for the movement to defund the police, championed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), remains online. This makes it even more troubling that the media attempted to portray similar allegations against Hunter Biden as Russian disinformation before the 2020 election. The media refused to cover the fact that Hunter Biden’s laptop had been subpoenaed in 2019 and contained records of millions of dollars in payments and gifts addressed to Joe Biden himself. Per the Biden team’s press release, Hunter Biden remains under a tax investigation, which could probe transactions and gifts contained on his laptop. The investigation could also look at the unsecured loan he received from China and the fact that he was asked by a business associate to amend his tax filings to reflect his income from Burisma. If Republicans retain the Senate and Joe Biden is president, Senate Republicans could launch further investigations into Hunter Biden’s shady dealings. By nominating Xavier Becerra, attorney general of California, to the position, Biden revealed that he plans not just to do away with the Trump administration’s contraception exemption but also aims to mount a broader challenge against religious liberty. Becerra has filed multiple legal challenges to the Trump administration’s efforts to allow religious and moral exceptions to Obamacare’s coverage mandate for contraception, on the grounds that such moves diminished the rights of women. While the Supreme Court did eventually side with the Trump administration, there is nothing to prevent a subsequent Biden administration from doing away with the religious exemption. Given Becerra’s appointment, Biden has shown little interest in battling COVID-19 effectively and has, instead, shown a willingness to pursue an agenda to weaken religious liberty protections. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) filed a complaint urging the House Ethics Committee to open an investigation into Rep. Eric Swalwell’s (D-CA) reported involvement with a Chinese spy name Fang Fang. The spy reportedly got close to a number of American politicians including Swalwell, and the FBI had to intervene and provide him with a defensive briefing. Sensenbrenner’s complaint also states that Swalwell hired at least one intern on Fang’s recommendation in the year he was appointed to the House Intelligence Committee and had access to sensitive, classified information. Fang also repeatedly helped Swalwell’s fundraising efforts, and Sensenbrenner argues that this is sufficient to open an inquiry. The complaint further alleges that Swalwell’s conduct was a violation of the House’s Code of Official Conduct and posed a threat to American national security. Georgia Sens. Loeffler and Perdue torched Georgia Secretary of State Raffensperger for his failure to release a final list of newly registered voters ahead of early voting for the Georgia Senate runoffs. -Newt Kelly Loeffler, David Perdue Torch Brad Raffensperger’s Failure to Enact Voter Transparency Measure By Sean Moran Breitbart Incumbent Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, both Republicans from Georgia, criticized Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger for not releasing lists of newly registered voters ahead of early voting for the senate runoff elections next month. In their joint statement, Loeffler and Perdue said that the public deserved an accounting of who was eligible to vote in the runoff even as in-person early voting had started. They went on to argue that failing to rectify such a misstep would cast a shadow of doubt on the integrity of the upcoming election. Their statement came after Stacey Abrams claimed that 1.2 million absentee ballots had been requested for the runoffs and that 85,000 of those applications were from voters who did not vote in the general election, disproportionately including younger and minority voters.
