What Newt’s Reading The final week of this election is aligning with events in 2016. -Newt All Signs Point to One Thing: We’re Reliving the 2016 Election By Christopher Bedford The Federalist As it did in 2016, the Democratic National Committee engineered the presidential nomination of an establishment figure, Joe Biden, in 2020 and dismissed all probing questions as conspiracies. Once again, the Democrats have nominated someone who prefers isolation and holds a smattering of rallies with low attendance. Once again, there is a compromising laptop in the hands of US intelligence as Democrats rely on an indifferent Barack Obama to bail them out. Moreover, as in 2016, Democrats are faced with a Republican nominee in President Trump who is holding jam-packed rallies while trailing in public polling. All of these elements described Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, but the media continues to miss signs of Republican enthusiasm and a poor Democratic campaign. After 2016, the Democrats wondered if they had abandoned the white working class for rich elites and if there was any contrition on their part. This was all quickly forgotten, and now Democrats have relapsed into their old ways. The Democrats have embraced the radicalism of Black Lives Matter while abandoning traditional door-to-door campaigning in order to continue pandemic panic theater. Meanwhile, President Trump is packing stadiums, selling a record amount of merchandise, and generating impressive enthusiasm as usual. Nobody knows what will happen on election night, but one thing is for certain: Democrats and the media have learned nothing. It appears that Hunter leveraged his last name and father's influence to forge a deal for China energy company (CEFC China) and Colombia. -Newt Hunter Biden Group Touted Joe Biden in Investment Pitch to Chinese Firm By Chuck Ross Daily Caller In 2017, Hunter Biden and his associates touted Joe Biden’s friendly relations with Colombian President Juan Michael Santos as part of an outline seeking a $10 million investment with Chinese conglomerate CEFC China. This report was part of a trove of documents provided by ex-Hunter Biden associate Tony Bobulinski, who has maintained that the Bidens “aggressively leveraged” their family name to secure foreign business deals. The sales proposal in question titled “Colombia — Gateway to Latin America,” features an image of Joe Biden shaking hands with Santos and touts the strong relationship between Santos and Joe Biden throughout the Obama administration, including several positive remarks Joe Biden had made regarding US-Colombia relations during his tenure as vice president. Eventually, the Chinese conglomerate CEFC China wired $5 million to Hunter Biden’s law firm in 2017. A Senate report on the subject contends that the Biden family’s foreign ties pose an extortion risk given CEFC’s extensive relations with the Chinese Communist Party. While initial emails suggested that Joe Biden himself was supposed to have an equity stake in the deal with the CEFC, the deal did not come to pass. The Biden campaign maintains Joe Biden has never held stock in any of these foreign business dealings. Vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris appeared shocked during a recent interview with 60 Minutes after being reminded that she is one of the most liberal senators in Washington. -Newt Kamala Harris's Liberalism Is No Laughing Matter By The Editorial Board Washington Examiner During an interview with 60 Minutes, Kamala Harris laughed off questions about her far-left record on various issues, from her support for Medicare for All and the Green New Deal to her support for unrestricted abortion and tax increases. Nonpartisan groups have ranked Harris as the most liberal US senator, ahead of self-avowed progressives like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. While Biden has portrayed himself as a centrist candidate who represents a return to normalcy and decency, his inability to condemn calls to pack the Supreme Court and eliminate the Senate filibuster undercuts that image. Harris has also called to decriminalize illegal immigration, provide health care to illegal aliens, and institute a mandatory gun buyback program. When pressed in the 60 Minutes interview on the discrepancy between her positions and Biden’s, Harris pivoted to her experience as a black prosecutor with a parent who immigrated from India. Voters need answers on whether a Biden-Harris administration would adopt radical leftist policies such as packing the Supreme Court and passing the Green New Deal. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., in her race against fellow retired astronaut Mark Kelly, a Democrat.”-Newt Buzz Aldrin Picks Arizona Republican McSally Over Fellow Astronaut Kelly By Evan Fordham Fox News Legendary US astronaut Buzz Aldrin, best known for piloting the Apollo 11 Lunar Module in 1969 and being the second human to walk on the moon, endorsed incumbent Republican Sen. Martha McSally (AZ) in a tweet. Aldrin is also a Korean War veteran and a former fighter pilot, like McSally. Sen McSally responded by saying that it was an absolute honor to have the support of a war hero like Buzz Aldrin and emphasized how important it was to win her seat and maintain a Republican majority in the Senate. Despite the fact that Aldrin, a Florida resident, is not one of McSally’s constituents, three other former astronauts have also endorsed her for reelection. Former astronauts Tom Stafford, Charlie Duke, and Jack Lousma wrote about their support for McSally in an op-ed in the Arizona Republic, citing her “incredible determination, strength, and grit.” Sean Parnell is a perfect voice for Pennsylvania district 17 and Congress. However, the district also has a multitude of centrist-leaning voters who prefer moderate Republicans and conservative Democrats who will break party ranks to compromise. It does not appear as if the incumbent Congressman Conor Lamb (D-PA) is one of those moderates. While he did not vote for Nancy Pelosi for the speakership as he had promised, he has voted to impeach President Trump despite the fact that his party found no serious, legitimate reason to do so. On every other issue as well, he has voted in lockstep with his speaker and his party, showing no independence. It is not clear that his Republican opponent, Sean Parnell, would accomplish more given that he would be a freshman backbencher likely in the minority if elected. However, Parnell is a distinguished war hero who will not bow down to the party leadership. Mr. Lamb is controlled and polished like a career politician, but he is neither a maverick in the party nor a moderate. The 17th Congressional District of Pennsylvania deserves independent representation and Sean Parnell should be given the chance to serve.
