The Atlanta Fed’s GDPNow forecasting model predicts third quarter GDP to come in at 29.6 percent. These facts, combined with rising retail sales and manufacturing strength, indicates that the US economy is well on its way to a “V”-shaped recovery to pre-pandemic prosperity. The sole threat facing the economy is America’s politicians, who could enforce another lockdown on partisan grounds — as Joe Biden has promised to do. Pointing to the advice given by so-called scientists, Joe Biden has committed to reimposing lockdowns, ignoring the collateral damage inflicted by such policies on diligent Americans. We must appreciate the economic progress made under President Trump while also acknowledging that a Biden victory in November threatens to derail everything. Biden openly admits to his plan to destroy the suburbs by coercing local officials to hand over control over zoning laws to the federal government. - Newt Joe Biden Touts Wall Street Support for His Plan to Abolish American Suburbs By John Binder Breitbart In an address to residents of Kenosha, Wisc. last week, Joe Biden announced that Wall Street companies back his plan to dramatically alter zoning regulations throughout the country. Biden’s plan involves compelling local communities to permit multiple-family, mixed income housing within their neighborhoods and withholding federal funding from communities that do not comply. The plan also calls for the disbursement of a record number of Section 8 public housing vouchers. Responding to this policy announcement, former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey called Biden’s housing plan “disastrous,” as it requires suburban areas with single-family homes to build denser, affordable housing while disregarding what local governments (and therefore local voters) have to say on the matter. The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) has filed two court briefs that assert double voting occurred by the thousands in 2016-2018 in Georgia and North Carolina. - Newt Legal Group Finds Thousands of Double Voters in Battleground States By Rowan Scarborough Washington Times The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) has filed court briefs in Georgia and North Carolina, stating that thousands of individuals voted twice in both states from 2016-2018. Auditors noted that 20,000 voters appear to have voted twice in North Carolina in the 2016 and 2018 elections. About 10,000 did so in Georgia, not including the 4,000 deceased persons still on the voter rolls. The group also investigated the June primary in Clark County, Nevada, conducted primarily through mail-in ballots, and found that only 23.5 percent of all mail-in ballots were accepted and counted as legitimate votes. Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch asserted that two-thirds of Colorado counties had more registered voters than people. Both PILF and Judicial Watch have been actively engaged in seeking legal remedies to eliminate such irregularities in states before the presidential election in November. One reason for the surging, often protracted violence in US cities is the rise of progressive, Soros-funded prosecutors who undermine law and order. - Newt Growing Number of District Attorneys Are Out to Undermine the Law By The Editorial Board New York Post A key factor in causing and perpetuating the violence ravaging American cities is the election of district attorneys and public officials committed to undermining the rule of law under the banner of progressive ideology. Many cities have a history of the far left controlling local government, such as Portland and San Francisco. Other cities like Chicago and Boston have also ceded their DA offices to the far left, owing in no small part to the sizable contributions of liberal billionaire George Soros. For instance, the DA of Contra Costa County, Calif., Diana Becton, has stated that she would take looters’ “needs” into account while determining charges. Similarly, Bronx DA Darcel Clark is committed to waiving disorderly conduct and curfew violation charges against 300 protesters at a rally on June 4. While voters and the national media fixate on bigger political races, the office of the DA is central to maintaining order and the rule of law. Electing prosecutors who won’t enforce the law will only make the violence worse. GOP legislators in North Carolina scored a win for school choice. Their new COVID-19 relief bill expands the Opportunity Scholarship voucher program. - Newt A Carolina Victory for School Choice By The Editorial Board Wall Street Journal In a major expansion of North Carolina’s school choice program, the Republican-led state legislature rebuffed Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s plan of redirecting school choice funds to public school teachers. Republicans in the state legislature did so by hinging their support for a key coronavirus relief bill on expanding the state’s voucher program. The bill allows the state’s two virtual charter schools to enroll nearly an additional 4,000 students while raising the cutoff income limit for the voucher program from $63,000 annually for a family of four to $72,000. The bill also provides for a $335 “extra credit” for families with children who can be used for a variety of purposes, including hiring private tutors or improving Wi-Fi connectivity for remote learning. This move by the legislature shows a strong contrast between traditional public schools that refuse to return to in-person learning and private or charter schools that are beginning to do so, empowering parents to choose between them.
