February 8, 2021 marks the 7th International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking. Today we remember and pray for the millions of people around the world who are victims of human trafficking.
This year’s theme is “An Economy without Human Trafficking,” raising awareness of the economic systems and pressures that lead to human trafficking.
Pope Francis established the International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking in 2015. The day is marked annually on February 8, the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita, the patron saint of human trafficking survivors.
Human trafficking, like COVID-19, is a global emergency that affects us all. Together we can raise awareness, save lives, and eradicate this horrific injustice.
