Americans Must Remain Thankful
If the turkey isn’t as big this year – or isn’t there at all – let’s be thankful that the underlying economy is strong, and things will improve. Jobs will return. Opportunities will return, and America will succeed.

In an age of uncertainty and forced adaptivity, being alone on Thanksgiving is highly possible. In fact, my brother was exposed to COVID-19 and must quarantine on Thanksgiving. I wouldn’t feel so bad for him if he weren’t the kind of person who burns microwavable popcorn. Even colleges and universities around the nation are trying to convince students to stay on campus for the holiday, pushing “friendsgiving” and other ways to celebrate in the dorms to slow the spread.

Aside from emotional heartache and an injured sense of nostalgia, this creates a new, practical dilemma which will foil many family cooks. Why spend hours cooking a giant turkey for just a few people?
I don’t know if the House Democratic losses in 2022 will be as big as 1994 or 2010, but I am convinced they will be big enough to make McCarthy the next Speaker of the House.
