Charity of the Month: Thomas Jefferson Foundation

The Gingrich Foundation is delighted to recognize the Thomas Jefferson Foundation as its July Charity of the Month.

The legacy of Thomas Jefferson endures today in our nation’s founding document, the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson’s personal heritage, however, is preserved at Monticello, his estate in Charlottesville, Virginia, which is maintained by the Thomas Jefferson Foundation.

Established in 1923, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation manages and operates this UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Historic Landmark without any federal or state funding. Instead, it relies on the kindness and generosity of private benefactors.

The Thomas Jefferson Foundation is dedicated to preserving the life and legacy of our nation’s third president. It hosts nearly 500,000 visitors annually, including more than 90,000 children.

For those who cannot make the journey to Charlottesville, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation also offers digital resources that will allow them to develop an appreciation for Jefferson and his many interests.

For 99 years, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation has worked to obtain and restore Jefferson’s estate. In addition to the architectural restoration of Monticello and its gardens, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation has procured many of its original furnishings, including some which Jefferson himself designed.

Presently, the property spans nearly 2,500 acres, including Montalto, the neighboring mountain which was purchased in 2004.

Your generosity will enable those who visit Monticello and those who use its digital resources to discover the extraordinary heritage of Thomas Jefferson.

Please join the Gingrich Foundation in supporting the Thomas Jefferson Foundation.
