Last week, we asked readers: "Despite the current volatility in the economy, do you think things will get better as more businesses reopen?" A total of 1,280 voters responded to give their opinions.
This poll was close, but most voters said they don't think things will get better despite reopenings with 64.53 percent of the vote (826 readers). Around 35.47 percent (454 readers), however, said they do think the economy will improve with more businesses reopening.
Rising inflation and the prices of many goods has worried Americans over the past few months. While gas prices dropped sharply during COVID-19 last year, they continue to rise higher as well.
The silver lining to all of this is that COVID-19 cases have greatly decreased. Thanks to quick vaccine distribution, many businesses have been able to get back on their feet, and mask mandates have been lifted. It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to bring the economy back to the highs it experienced under President Trump.
