Whole Foods CEO John Mackey said on the Today Show, “My concern is that I feel like socialists are taking over.” He said he remembered dreary food shopping from his childhood before Whole Foods exploded the concept in 1978.
Throughout his career, Mackey has developed and advocated for what he calls “conscious capitalism,” or businesses that seek to “create financial, intellectual, social, cultural, emotional, spiritual, physical, and ecological wealth for all stakeholders.”
Mackey is retiring from Whole Foods at the end of August
