All you have to do is say, if you were the Democrats and you wanted to use the American people’s money to build the biggest possible political machine, the kind of machine we see in New York, Illinois, California, this bill is perfect. If you’ve had a really terrible policies and you really destroyed your small businesses and you really maximize your employment, you get more money as a reward. The states should have done the right things, that have low unemployment that have small businesses prosper, they will be taxed to transfer the money back to people like Governor Cuomo. Who’s earned really serious problems or the governor of California. What you have is I think to say to yourself, almost everything, $100 million for an underground railroad in Silicon Valley, I somehow think that Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter, they want to build underground railroad, they have plenty of cash let them do it. Why should the average citizen pay taxes for that kind of baloney?
NEWT:
I think the difference is where they’re starting from. Biden like Obama wants to get very radical change. And it’s hard to get the Republicans to go along and they’re solidifying and they’re in danger of driving Manchin and possibly Sinema from Arizona into the Republican voting ranks just because they can’t stomach where they are going. We had to work very hard, when we passed welfare reform, we got half the Democrats to vote with us and of course President Clinton signed it. When we passed four balanced budgets in a row, the only four in your lifetime it was bipartisan, you couldn’t have passed it any other way. But that required even though there was a lot of partisan rhetoric it required really listening to each other. I don’t seen any desire by Nancy Pelosi for example to listen to anybody. And I think they’ll be driven by people like AOC. So, the pressures are all from the left. Biden is appointing all sorts of left-wingers into the administration. They believe, sincerely, they believe in their world and they think they have to run over Republicans because otherwise they can’t get what they want. It’s literally that simple.
NEWT:
It all has to do with building the democratic machine to try and get reelected in 22 and 24. That’s the base of all that money.
NEWT:
This is crazy! People died. This is not some jaywalking problem. Cuomo lied; some reports involved big political donations. He adopted a set of rules which were not the center for disease control rules, he lied about that. Now we discover based on his own senior staff person that the reason — listen to their language. They froze because they were afraid of an investigation. Well, that’s explicitly obstruction. It’s a crime. At a minimum he has to resign, at a maximum he has to be indicted. I think what he’s done is terrible. Again, thousands of people died because of Governor Cuomo. This is not something minor. This is not a minor political scandal. Many senior citizens will be alive today if it weren’t for Governor Cuomo.
NEWT:
First of all, it’s a tragedy in Texas, but to hear Chuck Schumer who I’m sure believes passionately in global warming saying Texas, it’s their fault. This is the longest period of cold weather in 100 years. I’m sure, John Kerry will try to avoid that reality, but for Schumer to have that comment is stupid. The Texas system has worked very well. This is a freak event. You will see investigations. There are three or four things that should have been done differently. The governor has come out and said we will review the entire process because there are things that were done by the board of the Texas energy system that I think probably will be changed. It’s very hard to go in, whether it’s a hurricane or an earthquake or the longest period of cold weather in 100 years and drawing conclusions, except that it’s tragic for people in the middle of it and it’s going to take Texas a week or two to recover, but they will recover, they will learn a couple of lessons, but those lessons will include more nuclear power for example, a realization that when it gets cold enough the wind turbines stop and when it’s cold enough you don’t get any solar power. They green people have to look at the lessons that Schumer ought to learn about the fragility of green as a way of producing energy.
NEWT:
It is complicated but Texas is the largest producer of energy in the United States by a very big margin and frankly you look at California, which is part of a different grid, they’ve had it for a long time. They clearly have a very badly run utility history. I can’t resist to mention, I would be interested and senator Schumer of New York expressing a clear opinion about Governor Cuomo, he seems very eager to go after Texas. I want Schumer to talk about Cuomo.
NEWT:
It is part of this whole political aristocracy we were talking about earlier, whether it was California or New York, there are thousands and thousands of people who love going to those ice ranks, which Trump personally saved back when he was a citizen in the 80s. He rode a great chapter in his book “The art of the deal” on what he did and how he did it. Why the mayor would want to punish, this is not punishing Trump this was actually a nonprofit, but what he would want to punish the people of New York tells you something about how whacked out the political class has become. How out of touch with normal people it is, and how amazingly arrogant and hypocritical it is. And De Blasio is just typical of a whole generation of politicians.
